"He's back! Henry Stockton's back from the grave!"

Kate Dearborne has already seen the local ghost with her own eyes; the Stockton Mill owner's grandson was apparently never killed in the war, for Henry Stockton has returned to Amberdale to join his family's thriving business, and while unbeknownst to her father, Kate; through no fault of her own, has just become reacquainted with the imposing local figure.

Returning home after serving his country, Henry Stockton mistakenly believes that he is arriving back to the same peaceful community that he left behind; however, nothing could be further from the truth. His grandfather's iron clad business tactics have hardened his approach to profit, stirring wide discontent between the local weavers and those who have chosen to step forward and become employed by Stockton Mill. One man has truly crossed the line; Charles Dearborne, son of a formidable weaver. But it's the beautiful weaver's daughter that strikes the eye of Henry Stockton; in spite of their differences, and it in spite of his business partner's alluring daughter; who makes it quite clear that she wants to become Mrs. Henry Stockton.

As tensions rise and the stakes become higher, will Kate and Henry rise to the occasion, or will they fall back on conventionality and destroy any chance of happiness between them? For, "they were two people fighting the same battle on different sides of the war".

Enjoy Sarah Ladd's melodic style, as she demonstrates her own knowledge of weaving; using the power of words to fabricate a beautiful story.

The Weaver Daughter A Regency Romance Novel edition by Sarah E Ladd Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This Author is absolutely one of my favorites. I have had the privilege of reading each one of her books and I can honestly say each one stands on its own merits. This story has wonderful characters and their descriptions are outstanding.
I absolutely loved this book! Sarah Ladd is a talented author, this story is so well written and full of all the things I love in a great book. The story, setting, characters, historical aspect and the love story were perfect! Looking forward to her next book!
Kate stands in the middleware the weavers and the milk workers. Can she make a difference?

Henry Stockton is home from the war to find his own family war. Can he make a difference? Who killed his grandfather? Will he marry Miss Pennington, or is his heart elsewhere?
I have enjoyed Sarah Ladd’s books from the start, but this one is my new favorite of hers. The Weaver’s Daughter is an enjoyable read, with deep character development and a suspenseful plot. As a stand alone book (not a part of a series) I couldn’t help but feel a little heart broken at the end, knowing that’s where the story ends and my time with the characters had finished.
I love the historical element of the weavers vs. the mill owners and workers as the industrial period is introduced in England. While the main male character has just returned from war, his family and the family of the main female character are warring as well. The main romance develops into a sweet, satisfying relationship while other suitors lose out. I listened to the book on MP3 CD and enjoyed the book immensely!
Sarah Ladd is definitely one of my favorite authors and books like this are why. I love the action, the tension, the attention to detail of this book. The main characters come from two different (and rival) worlds, and to see them not only struggling with that, but to address it in a way you can see and understand the situations from all angles, that is what I love about Ladd's writing.
As you might guess from my screen name the title of this book caught my eye immediately and it didn't disappoint. This is a very well written, engaging story set in Britain's Industrial Revolution when those who had done work by hand for generations were being replaced by machines. But unless that sounds too dry, there's at it's heart a story of a romance that was, unlike so many books of this genre, very believable.. The only reason I didn't give it five stars, and this is being really picky here, was there was a lot of talk about "gig mills" - in fact much of the story revolved around the delivery of them - and even though I've woven for many a year I had no idea what those were, didn't find anything online, and a brief description was given only by around the middle of the book. Overall though I really enjoyed this, and will look for more books by this author.
