Immortal Defender is more than a book about the world of Vikings. It's total emersion in that time and place. Torvald and Josian are totally realized, three-dimensional characters, but that isn't only the reason I'm raving about this amazing read. In fact I hesitate to call attention to the fact that Lisa Hendrix created a fictional ancient world because the whole time I was reading it, I lived side by side with Torvald and Josian. Lisa has a remarkable ability to weave setting and civilization (or lack of at times) into what felt like a real experience. Not once was I pulled away from the story. Instead, it became me. Bravo!

I have been waiting for this book for awhile. It did not disappoint. It took me a bit to recall the first two stories and the characters. But soon it all came back and I was pleased with this story. Can't wait for the others.
I love Lisa Hendrix Immortal Brotherhood series. I love this book because I am immediately transported back to Tudor England, I can picture the roads, the clothes , the food, the smell everything... The pace is really swift, I do love the characters as they are well developed. I really hope Lisa Hendrix can continue with her series. This book has been really fun, sexy, funny and historical all at once. What more could you want?
After a long five year wait Lisa Hendrix has finally resumed her amazing series The Immortal Brotherhood. An imaginative melding of paranormal legend and historical romance the tale started over seven hundred years ago when a Viking raiding party was cursed by an evil witch, that each of the nine men would become their token animal for either the day or the night. A curse that could only be broken by finding each of their amulets the witch used in her spell and of course their true love.

In Immortal Defender the story has moved to Elizabethan times where Torvald who changes into a horse must save the lusty widow Josian Delamere from Elizabeth I's purge of Catholics and the evil witches Cwen's schemes with a little help from a Norse God and some very famous Elizabethan gentlemen...

I love this series, a perfect blending of legend and history.... and hope it is not five years before we get the next instalment.
I have been waiting to read Torvald and Josian's story for such a long time! And it does not disappoint. Set in Elizabethan England, Torvald is cursed to spend his days as a horse, while becoming a man when the sun sets. Josian is a widow (love a heroine who's a widow, so different!) who is enamored with Torvald, but when she comes upon him at his time of transformation, she believes him and his similarly cursed friends to be demons. Complications ensue, and Will Shakespeare lends a hand.
