Myra Johnson has a gift for beautiful writing that makes you feel deeply for the characters. I absolutely loved this book and read until 2:30 to finish it. It isn't a book full of explosions or shootings, but somehow she makes it impossible to stop turning the page. The characters are alive and even hours later I'm still thinking of them and wanting them to be happy for the rest of their lives.
Johnson gave a a huge, powerful reason the hero and heroine couldn't be together and she didn't go for simple answers. Instead she made it feel real, like people you love struggling and surviving and thriving through their own wisdom and God's grace.

Thank you for writing a love story that isn't x-rated. All too often I buy a book and find myself skimming over the sex scenes that are all too often the same old, same old. There is noting new under the sun, your book put a smile on my face. I also learned a great deal about the great depression and what folks went through. Thank you.
Five Stars for Myra’s The Sweetest Rain! This sweet story definitely kept me turning the pages fast and kept me captivated. Myra’s writing makes the characters take up residence in a reader’s heart. I can’t wait to read more about them in Book 2 (Castles in the Clouds) in this faith based series.
This was a good story and it was fairly well told. The writing was good and kept my attention, and was enjoyable reading. But it seemed so much like so many other romance novels - "the usual". But still, it was good enough to read and I did enjoy it. I enjoyed it enough to rate it.

What a beautiful story of love without all the sex! Author describes characters so well the almost seem alive! I couldn't put the book down. Shows us we all suffer at some time but in the end we see it was worth it. This is the kind of story movie makers should work on. We don't have to have sex to show how beautiful love can be!
I was born in 1931 and even though I didn't live in Arkansas or live through the time of no rain, times were hard and money was scarce. My Dad worked a small that was owned also by his brother and sister.Because both my patents worked hard,grew up without worrying about being provided for .l am thankful that l have good memories of those years
This is an amazing book that you will not want to put down. Myra's writing brings to life the struggles of the drought in the 1930's and Bryony's determination to take care of the family and keep their farm. The love, strength and determination of the characters in this book is so heartwarming. I enjoyed this book so much!
I love historical fiction, especially when the characters and story line are so real you can't wait to find out what will happen next. This is one of those books. The only thing that I felt was questionable was how Bryony's sister could go to college when they were too poor to pay their debts and didn't think they would have enough food to last through the winter. There was no mention of a scholarship or that college was free at that time. Other than that, I found the story to be very believable, and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
